It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Darin J. Burwell, who left us on January 18, 2026, at the age of 40. Born on July 17, 1985, in Union City, PA, Darin was a lifelong resident of the area, where he graduated from Fort LeBouef High School in 2003.

Darin worked hard as a supervisor at Shearer’s Snack Foods, where his dedication and leadership made a lasting impact on his colleagues. Those who knew him best will remember him as an avid fan of Sci-Fi films, a passionate reader, and a true animal lover.

He is survived by his beloved companion, Julia Hubbell of Union City; his mother, Donna L. Bayhurst of Mill Village; his son, Allen Proper of Union City; and his sister, Dana Burwell and her companion, Jeremy Welsch of Waterford. Darin was also the proud brother of Daniel J. Burwell and his wife, Stephanie of Erie, Dustin Burwell and his wife, Vickie of Waterford, and Michael Bayhurst and his wife, Tiffany of Mill Village. He leaves behind several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles who will miss him dearly.

Darin was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Burwell, I; his stepfather, David Graham; and his beloved grandparents, Bert and Martha Proper, and Mervin and Shirley Burwell.

A celebration of Darin’s life will be announced at a later date, and we invite all who knew him to join us in reflecting on his warm spirit and joyous moments. He will be laid to rest in Evergreen Cemetery in Union City.

Hey uncle it’s me Katie I’m gonna miss you so much and I’m so sorry I didn’t come to see you I was so scared of getting you even more sick but when we got better it was too late and I’ll forever regret not seeing you one last time. If it wasnt for you I’d never know how to ride a bike. It breaks my heart you won’t get to see ezmeray grow like you did with us kids, but I pray you will always watch over her and our family. One day we will all get to be together again happily, but till the time comes I will forever love you you were an amazing uncle brother father and friend and your memory will never be forgotten.
