William J. Carlson, 79, of Cooperstown, passed away at 2:10 a.m. on March 2, 2016 at UPMC Northwest, located in Seneca.Born August 11, 1936 in Brooklyn, NY, William was the son of the late Wilford and Anna Boylan Carlson. William worked as a long shoreman for the International Long Shoreman's Association on the Brooklyn loading docks. William is survived by his wife, Madeleine Dickie Carlson; his step-son: David Halonski, and his wife, Loraine, of CA; his step-daughter: Valerie Tannenbaum of FL; his two grandchildren: Christopher and Stephanie Carlson; 1 great-granddaughter; his brothers-in-law: George Wielandt, and his wife, Bonnie, of Sugarcreek and Raymond Wielandt, and his wife, Margaret, of Rocky Grove; and by several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, and his two sons: Mark and Billy Carlson.Friends and family will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street in Franklin, on Sunday, March 6th from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and on Monday, March 7th from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, March 7th at 12:00 noon, with the Rev. Mark Fultz, pastor of the Cooperstown Evangelistic Tabernacle, officiating. Interment will follow at Franklin CemeteryThe family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Cooperstown Evangelistic Tabernacle, 216 N.
