No person should have to go thru this more than once in their lifetime. I am so sorry for your loss. Just wanted to share a memory of Bill. When I was about 9 or 10, my aunt and grandparents lived on Fox St in Rocky Grove. I can remember being permitted to walk the block from their house to Bill & his brother’s store. I always enjoyed going in there, They treated me like I was one of their own. I have always thought very fondly of Bill. He was a wonderful man. Please do not hesitate to call me if you need anything, even if you just want to talk. Luv you Shell. I’ll be praying for you and your family. God Bless!!
Shelly so sorry for your loss You and your family are in my prayers and thoughts.
Bill and Roy always came into Perkins off Rt 8 when I worked there, 1976-1979. Their visits brought great joy to all who worked there! I waited on them often. Both had great smiles. Bill’s laughter was full and contagious! I always looked forward to their visits! I’vd miss them and thought of them through the years….wondering how they were. They both served as mentors to me in many positive ways. The memories I have will keep me smiling. My condolences to his family and friends. May God bless you and keep you. Respectfully, Diana (Vogus) Bodner.
Shelley and Family,
My sincere condolences for your recent loss. Terribly sorry I didn’t make the memorial as we were in Ohio welcoming a newborn into the family. My memories of Bill began in the Grove with their store. His booming voice and charisma were initially intimidating to a scrawny adolescent, but, once you got to know him, you couldn’t help but smile every time you saw him. He was basically my golf mentor as I spent many days at Speers and I still remember him telling me: “you can still play bad golf fast…now let’s go”. I still play badly but I don’t slow anyone down! His huge smile and firm hand shake were trademarks of his outside, but, his honesty, candor and story-telling were the traits that truly made the man.
God Bless,
Ken ‘Teke’ Brannon
I had Mr. Flickner as my instructor in 1975 and 1976 at the Votech school in Oil City. He taught me everything that you ever wanted to know about meat cutting. I am still doing the job that he taught me 40 years ago. He was a very good instructor and helped get my 1st meat cutting job. He was always pleasant and liked to joke with all that he taught. So sorry to hear of his passing.
