With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Violet Louise Hazlett, 87, of Franklin, who left us peacefully on June 22, 2025, at Oakwood Heights Village. Born on July 28, 1937, in Sugarcreek Boro, Violet was the beloved daughter of Earl Jacob Lepley and Virginia D. Fuller Lepley. She was a loving wife to William C. Hazlett, who predeceased her on April 6, 2002.
Violet’s warmth and kindness touched everyone she met. She found joy in the little things, whether it was solving word search puzzles, spending quality time with her cherished dog, Walter, or tuning into her favorite country and Gospel music. Her heart was always open, especially when it came to family gatherings and outings with her sister, nieces, and brother-in-law. Violet also treasured the close bonds she shared with her neighbors, who became a part of her extended family.
She is survived by her devoted daughters, Debra Kay Smith (Gary) of Polk and Terri Lynn Hazlett of Franklin; her sister, Dorothy Latchaw of Cooperstown; several nieces and nephews; and her brother-in-law, Donald Ames of Franklin. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Violet was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother, Charles Lepley, and her sister, Marion Ames.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Violet’s life on Wednesday, June 25th, with visiting hours from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Gardinier-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., located at 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin. A heartfelt funeral service will take place on Thursday, June 26th, at 11:00 AM at the funeral home, with Pastor Mark Fultz officiating.

Deb and Terri,
Aunt violet will truly be missed! Some of my favorite childhood memories are spending time at her house, her famous blueberry cheesecake her letting me drink coffee with tons of sugar and dad eating 24 cupcakes that she made!! She truly had a heart of gold was so kind and loving! I will miss her deeply but have comfort knowing that she is with grandma looking down on us. Love you guys
