Velma Marie Wellmon

Velma Marie Wellmon, 101, of Union City, passed away, Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Crawford County Care Center. She was born on March 27, 1919 a daughter of Perry William Rubner and Jessie Bierwerth Rubner. She married Robert F. Wellmon, he preceded her in death on August 10, 1995.
She was employed with York and Foster later known as Molded Fiberglass. She was one of the first women to be promoted to the position of Supervisor with the company.
Velma had a beautiful singing voice and used to sing and dance at the Riverside Hotel. She also enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, and sudoku.
She is survived by a daughter, Vivian M. Fosburg of Centerville; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn Rubner of Meadville; and a brother, Perry Max Rubner of Conneaut Lake.
In addition to her husband; she was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Edna, Opal, Doris, Mildred, and Tessy; a brother, Glenn; and a twin brother who passed at birth.
Services will be private.
Burial will take place in Loomis Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Velma's memory to the Anna Shelter; 1555 East 10th Street, Erie, Pennsylvania 16511.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Kenny Burge for the care and time spent with Velma while visiting the nursing home and to her special neighbors, Dorothy and Noah for always helping Velma with whatever she needed.. They would also like to thank the staff at the Crawford County Care Center and Kindred Hospice for care provided to Velma.
