Vaughn Richard Kent

November 27, 1960 ~ January 13, 2019
Born in: Corry, Pennsylvania
Vaughn Richard Kent JR, aka Bird, 58, of Union City, Pennsylvania passed quietly and unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, January 13, 2019.
Born November 27, 1960 to Vaughn and Nancy Kent, Bird, was one of the most carefree and content persons to roam the earth. Bird had two children to which he leaves his legacy: Jacob Kent and Kara Perrien. Also left to cherish his memory are three grandchildren, Liana, Logan, and Lyssa, brother James, sisters Darlene and Becky, as well as plenty of cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and ex-wife Kimberly. He was preceded in death by his parents Nancy and Vaughn Sr.
Bird was a crane operator at Lincoln Recycling. He was however more known for his superior carpentry skills. Starting at the age of 15 he swung the hammer for his father, before having a few construction companies of his own until ultimately ‘retiring’ from the trade after multiple years working for Chuck Buckeye. Still to this day Bird could out shingle a crew of three with his modified no safety Bostich roofing nailer. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, canoeing, camping and bonfires. One of the biggest events he looked forward too every year was deer season, although it was a rarity for a kill to be had on the first day, second, third or sometimes the fourth. Bird passionate about many things, and bee hives have been one of the few long standing endeavors he involved himself in. Right up until his passing he talked about building bee hives with excitement and how they were going to make him millions. You might actually see one or two oh his hives tucked away in a back yard. On rare occasions you might also have been lucky enough to receive one of his sticky homemade jars of honey even if you had not used up the quart from last year.
Birds final wishes did not include a traditional service but a bonfire for all of his family and friends to enjoy which will occur sometime in June. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Northwestern Pennsylvania Beekeepers Association, 10520 State Rd, Cranesville, PA 16410
Arrangements are in the care of Warren-Glenn Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 62 S. Main Street, Union City, PA.

My best memories of childhood were the special week ends when our cousins the Kents and Boyersmiths from Wattsburg would come down to Uncle Larry and Aunt Julie’s house and we had a blast! Fishing, homemade tents over the clothes line, toasting marshmallows, playing tag and hide n’ seek. Watching Larry Olsen chase Vaughn Kent around the house with a black snake and Vaughn screaming like a little girl!
Dickie was big part of our lives and memories and he will be missed. I am sorry for your loss and we will all miss his big smile. I am going to post for Aunt Julie also as she is not computer savvy . She sends her love and condolences to Dickie’s loved ones and is sorry for their loss.
With love. Cousin Kris (Olsen) Tluczek and Aunt Julie

I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of Bird. He was such a genuine great person. We use the cliche that a person would give you the shirt off of their back. Bird was exactly that guy. Bird would give you his last dollar if he knew you needed it. That generosity may have also been his greatest flaw. I only have good memories of Bird. Whether we were hunting, fishing or sitting around a bonfire, I always had a great time. I also loved teaming up with him at Sue’s Mill for a horse shoe tournament always with a Busch beer. Bird you were loved by many and will be sadly missed. Darci, Paul, Liberty and Brady all have great memories of you and you will be missed whole heartedly by them as well. HEEEEYYYYY! We love ya Bird.
Love,
Paul, Darci, Paul IV, Liberty and Brady Mongera
