Thomas James Zakovitch, 68, of Union City, passed away, Friday, January 19, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 7, 1949 in Hazelton, Pennsylvania a son of Frederick Zokovitch and Anna Kuba Zokovitch. He married Ilene Hornick on December 21, 1974.
He was a graduate of Lower Saucon Valley High School, did his under graduate studies at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan, and earned his Masters at Edinboro University.
Tom was employed with Union City School District as a guidance counselor until his retirement on June 30, 2011.
He served his country with the US Army during the Vietnam War working in Fort Myers for the study groups in the Pentagon and was a member of Saint Teresa of Avila where he was part of the Legion of Mary.
Tom enjoyed golf, reading, traveling, gardening, and working in his yard.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ilene Zakovitch; a daughter, Kristy Anderson and her husband Justen; two sons, Joshua Zakovitch and his wife Paula and Justin Zakovitch and his wife Erin Moran; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph Zokovitch and Frederick Zakovitch and his wife Jane; and a sister, Rita Zambelli and her husband Gerry.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents.
Family and friends are welcome to call on Tuesday, January 23rd from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm at Warren-Glenn Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc 62 S. Main Street, Union City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be will celebrated on Wednesday, January 24th at 11:00am at Saint Teresa of Avila Church, 9 Third Ave., Union City, with Father Thomas Suppa, pastor, as celebrant.
Burial will follow at Saint Teresa Cemetery, Union City.

It was always a pleasure to visit with Tom and I will miss seeing him around Union City. My prayers and sympathy are being sent out to you and your family in this time of grief and loss. May the comforting arms of Jesus hold you close and heal your heart.
