Thomas Steven Shaw, 65, of Polk passed away on June 19, 2025 at Hamot Medical Center in Erie, PA.

Born on December 28, 1959 in Venango County, PA to the late Norman C. and Florence E. (Hays) Shaw.

He proudly served in the United States Army from June 15, 1978 to November 15, 1985. He then joined the United States Navy and served from April 1, 1987 to December 11, 1991. His last duty station was on the USS Canopus AS-34 at Kings Bay, GA. His decorations and awards include Battle “E”, Navy Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Sharpshooter Badge (Pistol), and Driver & Mechanic Badge (Driver-W).

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was an avid gun enthusiast.

Surviving are Thomas’ siblings June L. Carter of Rocky Grove, John C. Shaw and his wife, Sharon, of Franklin, and Agnes L. Johns of Rocky Grove and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Elsie L. Redmond, Norman E. Shaw, Mary E. Whitman, Joseph E. Shaw, Roy D. Shaw, Barry T. Shaw, Dorothy R. Frantz, Alberta R. Shaw, and Tammy Shaw.

Thomas will be laid to rest in Bethel Cemetery, 2656 State Route 417, Franklin on Monday, July 14, 2025 at 1:00 pm where military honors will be accorded by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard of Franklin.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Thomas’ name to the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard, PO Box 137, Franklin, PA. 16323.
