Thomas Ellison Gallagher, 72, from Meyersdale, PA, passed away on October 16, 2025, at Rest Assured Living Center. Born on May 27, 1953, in Harrisburg, PA, Thomas was the son of Walter Gallagher Jr. and Emma Louise Overall. Tom, as he was fondly known, was a dedicated cook and kitchen manager, spending many years at Elby’s Big Boy, and later managed King’s. He proudly served in the United States Navy, and he was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church and American Legion Post #111.

When he wasn’t cooking up a storm in the kitchen, Tom spending quiet afternoons fishing, listening to music & watching TV. Tom cherished time with his family, which included his daughter Amy Gallagher, his son Michael Gallagher, and his beloved grandchildren, Zoey, Owen, Amelia, Cori, and Kyle.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

His family will hold a celebration of his life on November 1, 2025 at 10:00am at Christ Episcopal Church, 870 Diamond Park, Meadville.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to American Legion Post 111 or to Rest Assured Living Center 1137 Shirley’s Hollow Rd., Meyersdale PA. 15552.

  1. Tom grew up across the road from our farm and was one of my best friends. We road horses together and explored the woods. He helped me with chores and we had many memories together. Rest in peace my friend.

  2. The MASH (Meadville Area Senior High) Class of 71 remember’s Thomas from high school by his participation in the College Choir, Key Club, Stage Crew, Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, and District Chorus. We offer our condolences to Thomas’ family and friends and may he rest in peace.
