Sandra "Sandy" K. Hawkins, 80, of Franklin passed away on March 16, 2024 at UPMC Northwest with her family at her side. Born on October 2, 1943 in Franklin, she was the daughter of the late Lewis Earl and Emma Alberta (DeLong) Boughner. On August 30, 1968, she married the love of her life, Chester "Junior" Hawkins, Jr and he survives. Sandy was a lady of many talents, she worked at CPT as a keypunch operator, was a teacher's aid at IU6, and loved to babysit children. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing Bingo. Even though crossword puzzles were fun for her, she was more passionate about the cryptograms from the newspaper. She was a book worm and loved to read mysteries and suspense novels. She was also an avid Steelers and Pirates fan with a recent distain for the newest Steelers trades. She also enjoyed yard sales and watching the birds at her feeders and the deer that passed through the yard. She enjoyed her weekly coffee meetings at Linda Lou's on Wednesdays with her friends but most of all, she loved to spend time with and watch her granddaughters' dance and ballet recitals. Left to cherish her memory along with her husband, Chester, is her daughter, Heidi Hawkins-Plowman and her husband, Todd, of Franklin; her granddaughters, Halle and Marley Plowman both of Franklin; her sisters, Shelly Boughner and her husband, Terry Bean, of Clarion, and Sue Blair of Franklin; and her nephews, Rick Blair and his partner, David Frasure, and Rob Blair all of Franklin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael Pratt; her sister, Sheila Boughner; and her brother-in-law, Robert D. Blair. Friends and family are invited to the Gardinier-Warren Funeral Home, 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm with funeral services for Sandy being held at the funeral home the same day immediately after the visitation at 3:00 pm with Associate Pastor Sam Wagner, of Christ United Methodist Church, officiating. Guestbook

  1. Some of our best and funniest times, was at the 4 H Venango County Fair grounds. In the evening setting around the camp fires sharing stories of our high school days. And her and my time spent at CPT as key punch operators. Her and I wishing for our first baby. And God granted us this wish. Loved going to yard sales and sharing stories about our grand children. Will miss you dear friend. We sure had a ride for our 80 yrs. Rest well with our Lord. And hope to see you on the flipped side.
    Love you, Carolyn

  2. Heidi and family,
I loved how your face always lit up when you spoke about your mom. My most sincere and heart felt condolences on her passing.

  3. I really enjoyed working with Sandy in my IU#6 Classroom at Polk Center. We shared a lot of laughs and made some great memories. It was nice seeing her occasionally at Linda Lou’s when Rocky and I would go to breakfast. She had a great circle of friends there. God bless you all. Jeanne Burgert
