Ruth E. Dingle Grant

UNION CITY - Ruth Dingle Grant, 86, of E. High Street, passed away, on Friday, September 1, 2017 at Edinboro Manor. She was born on December 30, 1930 in Union City, a daughter of Arthur N. and Erma Rath Dingle. She married Ronald L. Grant on April 30, 1950. He preceded her passing on February 18, 2010. She was a 1948 graduate of Union City High School and was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Union City. Ruth owned and operated with her husband, Grants Grocery and Fruit Stand until 2009. She brought a passion for penny candy to the business and was known as the "Penny Candy Lady." She was known for her smile which could light up a room. In 2006, Ruth and her husband, Ron, were named Union City's Outstanding Citizens by the Union City Lions Club. Ruth is survived by two daughters, Reverend Lisa Grant of Edinboro and GayLynn Neal and her husband Hal of Pittsburgh;and a grandson, Alexander Grant Neal. In addition to her loving husband, Ron, she was preceded in death by an infant son, David Lee Grant; two brothers, Karl Dingle and L. Arthur "Bud" Dingle; and a sister, Jean Greishaw. Family and friends are welcome to call on Monday, September 4th from 2:00pm until 5:00pm at Robert M. Glenn Funeral Home, 62 S. Main Street, Union City. There will be an additional calling hour on Tuesday, September 5th from 11:00am until the time of the funeral service at 12:00pm at First United Methodist Church, 42 E. High St, Union City, with Lea A. Guiney, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Union City.
