It was a great privilege to work with you. Rest in Peace Sir. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with me Tomer.
Dear Tomer family,
So very sorry for your loss. All humans feel this unnatural sting of death and its only natural to comfort each other. The scriptures impart hope at James 5:28,29 that we can see our loved ones again and without the circumstances we currently live in.
The scriptures have been provided to give comfort and show us what Gods loving plan is for those who enter rest. Take peace. For comfort from the Bible, please visit bit.ly/Deathjworg
Capt. Tomer was the ultimate corrections professional. He guided new officers to learn the business and as his fellow officer said, “he always had our back” . He sincerely wanted everyone to go home safe and his experience as a soldier and compassionate person showed that daily. He served in so many critical positions at SCI Albion, always doing his best. There was no one better at weapons training/knowledge and the safe secure operation of the range. Ron was a leader, not just because of his rank but because of his actions and example. I have often said young officers will follow the example of senior staff and especially commissioned officer ranks. Ron always showed the way, doing what was right! Many new officers learned how to be better corrections officers because of his guidance. When you talked with Ron , you had his full attention, he listed and tried to understand everyone. He has left an outstanding legacy in the DOC, that will be hard for to duplicate. It was my honor and pleasure to serve in the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections with Capt. Ronald Tomer. A man of integrity, May he rest in peace!
Edward T Brennan Superintendent ret. SCI Albion.
RIP My friend. I’ll never forget the time we spent at the range, and our endless efforts finding more accuracy! Thank you fir the patience and the knowledge. I’ll forever be grateful.
Your friend,
Rob Gilmore
Rest in peace Capt.Ron thankyou for helping me out when I transferred in to Sci. Albion from Rockview . Thanks for helping me out when I had questions about certain inmates on my unit and different gang related information in the yard ! Also thanks for the good deals on My shotgun ammo at edinboro outdoors. RIP Sir 🙏 ✝️
Rest In Peace, Ron. You were always one of the most respected and professional people at SCI Albion. It was obvious that you took your job seriously and understood the “big picture” wanting to assure that everyone stayed safe. You did that in a serious yet friendly manner. You were a trusted resource to everyone. You always tried to help people learn and improve rather than be punitive; a true leader. I always knew that you would do anything that you could to assist me or anyone in the institution. It was a pleasure and privilege to know you and work with you, my friend! Prayers to you and your family. Your life was very well done!

I worked with Ron for a few years when he was working part time at Edinboro Outdoors. He was a joy to work with and always had a smile and kind word for everyone. His family and friends will be in my thoughts and prayers as they journey on without him.

I remember Ron as a mentor, a teacher and a friend. He will always be Capt. Tomer to me. He always knew what to say to put a smile on your face and always knew what to say to take it off. He was respected by all. One of the best firearms men I ever met. Most of all a stand up guy. My heart goes out to his family especially Cindy.
