Ronald Eugene Stroup, 67, of Spring Creek, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully, surrounded
by the love of his life and the family who adored him beyond measure. He was the beloved son
of Nancy Barnett of Vero Beach, Florida, and the late Richard Stroup of Florida. He is preceded
in death by his brothers Richard “Ricky” and Scott Stroup and is survived by his sister, Cindy Keys of Vero Beach.
Ron was, in his own words, a “jack of all trades, master of none-but had a hell of a lot of fun
along the way.”; And that’s exactly how he lived-full of stories, laughs, and a good ol’ PBR in
hand. He could shoot the shit with anyone for hours, especially if the topic was oldies music,
hunting tales, or who was taking the checkered flag in NASCAR that week.
He loved his yard freshly mowed, his poker chips stacked, and his Yahtzee dice rolling hot. He
was never far from his favorite chair (the couch), a cloud of smoke curling from a joint, his dog
or cat sprawled around him, and the sound of his favorite songs humming through the speakers or a classic Western playing on the TV. Ron was also a die-hard fan of old-school WWF wrestling. If he wasn’t watching a match, cheering on his favorite NASCAR driver, he was
giving someone a hard time with that signature twinkle in his eye and a crooked smile.
If you knew Ron, chances are you shared a laugh, a story, or a cold beer with him. He made a lot of friends everywhere he went-lifelong bonds built on loyalty, laughter, and just the right amount of mischief. His circle was wide and full of people who will never forget his honesty, his humor, and how welcome he made everyone feel.
Ron found the great love of his life in Beth (Hawley) Stroup. Their love story wasn’t perfect, but it was real. After years apart, love led them back to each other in 2000, and Ron never looked back. After years of nudging and persistence, they finally made it official and married in August 2015-sealing a bond that had already stood the test of time.
Together, they built a big, beautiful, blended family. Ron was a father and mentor to Nicole
Stroup (Walter Aurand) of Erie, Eric Hawley (Felicia Telford) of Wattsburg, Kattie Murdock and
the late Dale Murdock of Union City, Robert Hull Jr. and his wife Heather of Erie, and Ronald
Stroup Jr. of Erie. He also opened his heart fully to his bonus son, Shawn McClelland and wife
Karie of Wattsburg.
But if you asked Ron who really had his heart, he’d tell you without hesitation: the grandkids-all 23 of them. Victoria, Eric Jr., Shawn Jr., Shauna, Brooklynn, Breanna, Kylie, Chloe, Teaghanne, Robert III, Lilly, Jesse, Sierra, Abigail, Haylie, Rachel, Gage, Devin, Brantley, Ronnie III, Angel, Milanna, and Annie-each one held a special place in his heart. They got the best version of him-his jokes, his bear hugs, his wise and insightful advice, and his endless supply of snacks and stories.
Ron didn’t want a big fuss made-no services, no goodbyes. He wanted to be remembered exactly as he was: laughing, loving, living on his own terms. He will be cremated, as per his wishes, and his family will carry his ashes and his memory in their hearts forever.
Though there may be no formal service, the legacy he leaves behind is loud, proud, and
unforgettable. Ron’s life was filled with grit, laughter, and unconditional love. He didn’t just touch lives-he transformed them with his loyalty, his wild spirit, and his deep, unwavering love for his family and friends.
We are forever grateful for the love, kindness, and support shared with our family during this
heartbreaking time. Ron would want you to raise a cold one, crank up the oldies and raise some hell!
Because even though he’s gone, the sound of his laughter, the warmth of his hugs, and the love he gave so freely will echo in our lives forever.
Rest easy, Ron. You were one of a kind. And you will be missed more than words could ever say
