Robert C. Shaffer, 61, of Twin Oaks Road, Polk died at 6:45 a.m., Wednesday, May 21, 2014 due to injuries as a result of an automobile accident in Irwin Township. Born June 21, 1952 at the 97th General Army Hospital in Frankfurt, Germany, Robert was the son of the late Charles Shaffer and Geraldine Frances (Guth) Shaffer-Morse. On June 6, 2000 he married C. Jean King, who survives.Mr. Shaffer was a graduate of Ayres High School in Ayres, Massachusetts. He was employed as a Machinist for Bashlin Industries in Grove City.Robert was a member of the Franklin Eagles Club, #328 and a former member of the Oil City Eagles Club, the Franklin Moose Club, and the Franklin VFW. He enjoyed hunting, cutting wood, and most of all, spending time with his granddaughter.In addition to his wife, as listed above, Robert is survived by his daughter, Kali J. Swab and her husband, Dana of Franklin; his brother, William C. Shaffer of Oil City; granddaughter, Sierra Swab of Franklin; several nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents.Friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Friday, May 23, 2014, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 11:00 a.m, at the funeral home with the Rev. Joseph P. Martin, Jr. pastor of the Cooperstown United Methodist Charge, officiating. I still remember all the crazy outfits that Bob used to wear the green sweats with the purple shorts over top. 🙂 And him singing to himself in the bathroom, and giving himself the pep talks in the mirrors, about what a good looking s.o.b. he was 🙂
