Resided in: Cochranton, Pennsylvania

Rita M. Newman, 76, of Cochranton, left us on December 14, 2025. She was born on November 14, 1949, in Meadville, the daughter of Victor R. Hogue and June M. Esa Hogue. Rita grew up in the area, going to Cochranton Jr. & Sr. High School and later attended cosmetology school in Erie.

For many years, Rita worked at Allegheny College in the housekeeping department and also provided in-home healthcare with the ARC. She loved her job and took pride in her work.Rita was a creative spirit who enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and crafting. There was no holiday more special to her than Christmas, as she loved baking-having once made over 10,000 cookies! She took joy in decorating her home and was known for always dressing up whenever she stepped into town. But above all, her greatest love was for her family. Spending time with her kids and grandkids brought her immense happiness, and she delighted in cooking special meals for everyone.

Rita is survived by her children: Doug Newman and his partner Jason Gertsen from Seattle, Scott Newman of Cochranton, and Tracy Albaugh and her husband Don, also from Cochranton. She adored her grandchildren-Kierstin, Cameron, Connor, Chase, Chelsea, McKenna, Mason, Lexi, and Anthony-along with her great-grandchildren: Avereigh, Jetsyn, Brady, Isla, Posie, Estella, Elodie, and Baylor. She will be missed immensely by her brother, Jeff Hogue, along with his companion Candy Morrell, her nephews: Rick, Matt, Chris, Steve, and Kevin, and her loving cats, Lucy and Lilly.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved son Ronnie Newman, and her brother Victor Hogue, Jr.

The family will hold a celebration of Rita’s life at a later date, and she will be laid to rest in Greendale Cemetery. In her memory, the family invites those who wish to honor Rita to donate blankets to the NICU at St. Vincent Hospital, a cause that held a special place in her heart.Rita’s warmth and love will be cherished by all who knew her.
