Rita Claire Barickman

Rita Claire Hoke Barickman, 90, of Meadville, passed away on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at Meadville Medical Center. She was born on April 26, 1931 in Meadville, a daughter of Arthur C. Hoke and Marian Chalot. She married Robert F. Barickman on September 29, 1951. He preceded her in death on September 8, 1986. She attended Saint Brigid Elementary School and was a 1950 graduate of Saint Agatha High School. Rita was employed with JCPenney, Roofner-Collins Funeral Home, Spencer Hospital where she was a nurse’s aide and respiratory therapist, and retired in 1996 from Wesbury Hillside Home. She was a member of Saint Agatha Roman Catholic Church. Rita enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading, and embroidering, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with all of her grandchildren. She is survived by two daughters, Mary Lou Zachar of Meadville and Jean M. McGraw of Chicago, Illinois; a son, Timothy E. Barickman and his wife Beverly of Meadville; eight grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren; two sisters; Sr. Mary Carol Lois Hoke of Erie and M. Jane Daugherty of Erie; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Hoke of Fayetteville, New York and Anna Mae Mowris of Meadville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, James Hoke and his wife Jacqueline, and Thomas A. Hoke; a sister, M. Ann Heile and her husband George; father- and mother-in-law, Rudolph J. and Mary E. Barickman; brother and sister-in-law, William and Kay Barickman; and a son-in-law, James McGraw. Family and friends are welcome to call on Friday, August 13 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Ryan M. Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 544 Chestnut Street, Meadville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at The Epiphany of the Lord Parish, Saint Brigid Roman Catholic Church, 383 Arch Street, Meadville, on Saturday, August 14 at 10:00am with Father Jeffrey Lucas, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Vernon Township.
