Richard James Roden

Richard “Dick” James Roden, age 77, of Union City, PA passed away peacefully at AHN St. Vincent Hospital on Saturday, January 20, 2024. Dick was born in Corry, PA on January 1, 1947, the son of the late Rev. Robert Roden, Sr. and Doris (Mattice) Roden. Dick graduated from Corry High School in 1965. Following graduation he served in the United States Air Force. Upon returning home he worked for several industries before becoming a self-employed painter for 40 years. Dick enjoyed outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing, which he shared with his family. He enjoyed traveling and visited almost all fifty states and much of Canada. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and in recent years, he took great joy in being a devoted and proud grandpa to his grandchildren. Dick was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Doris Roden, his stepmother Dorothy Roden, his brother Robert Roden, Jr., his in-laws Raymond and Ruth Gourley, and his nephew Gregory Troyer. Dick is survived by his loving wife of fifty-four years, Carole (Gourley) Roden, their daughter Richelle Ransom and her husband Christopher, and their son Scott Roden and his wife Stephanie. He is further survived by his grandchildren Kyra Ransom, Conor Ransom, and Grayson Roden. He will also be remembered by his sister and brother-in-law Deborah and Fred Crosby, his sister and brother-in-law Verone (Von) and Raymond Miller, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Janice and Eldon Troyer, his stepmother Anne Shaaban and her husband Adel, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and special family friends. The family would like to thank the staff at AHN St. Vincent Hospital for the care given to Dick during his time there. Friends and family will be received at the Warren-Glenn Funeral Home at 62 S. Main Street, Union City, PA 16438 on Friday, January 26, 2024 from 3-7 PM, and are invited to attend a funeral service at the funeral home at 12:00 PM on Saturday, January 27, 2024 with Pastor Tom Hunsberger officiating. Full Military honors will follow. A luncheon will be provided by the Union City CMA Church at 2 Dowman St., Union City, PA 16438 immediately following the service.
