Richard J. Wood, 82, of Franklin, passed away on May 9, 2019 in UPMC Northwest in Seneca.Born on October 10, 1936 in Rocky Grove, he was the son of the late Mary E. Greggs and George M. Wood, Sr.On May 16, 1959, Richard married the former Barbara E. Saeli in a ceremony at the St. Patrick Church in Franklin; she survives him.Mr. Wood graduated in 1954 from Franklin High School and the Orra-Jean Barber School in Erie, in October of 1958.He served in the United States Navy from June 1954 through October 1957, being Honorably Discharged as a Radarman 3rd Class.Mr. Wood was a member of the Franklin Fraternal Order of Eagles, Lodge #328 and the VFW Jesse Greer Post 1835. He also enjoyed golfing, bowling, shooting pool, and all of his great customers over the years.Most of all, Mr. Wood cherished the time he spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.A longtime Franklin barber, Mr. Wood first worked for Wayne Hefferman, taking over the business in 1964 and re-naming the shop, Ye Old Clippe Shoppe. He continued on in the same location until the building was sold in May of 2004. Mr. Wood then moved across the street to work at the Mane Event, until his health forced him to retire.In addition to his wife, Mr. Wood is survived by his two daughters, Kathy Wood of Port Orange, FL, and Kimberly Lahey from Tampa, FL; his three grandchildren, Christopher Little of Daytona Beach, FL, Jessica and Victoria Lahey, both of Tampa, FL; his two great-grandchildren, Leai and Luke Little, both of Daytona Beach; and numerous nieces and nephews scattered across the country.Mr. Wood was preceded in death by his parents; his five brothers, Robert, Roland, George, Jr., Raymond, and Charles; and his two sisters, Evelyn and Marilyn. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.Per Mr. Wood's request, there will be no public visitation. Barb Kim and Kathy you have my deepest sympathy. Dick was one of a kind. I appreciate his friendship over the years, words of wisdom and a drink here and there. I hope you all find peace in the coming weeks. Rest in peace my friend.

Dick was a lifelong neighbor and a great guy. he cut four generations of hair in my family. When I delivered the Derrick to the shop or got a haircut he always had a smile on his face. He will be missed.
