Richard Burdell Boughner

Richard "Dick" Boughner, 78, of Cooperstown passed away at 2:20 pm on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at UMPC Northwest, Seneca, PA after a courageous 8 year battle with Follicular Lymphoma.
He was born on March 6, 1945 to Emery and Edna (Couch) Boughner.
He was a 1963 graduate of Rocky Grove High School.
After high school, he joined the United States Air Force. He proudly served his country from 1964 - 1968.
Dick was employed by Joy Global for 44 years, retiring as Manager of the Tool Crib Department in September 2012.
He married the love of his life, the former Betty Fox, on March 8, 1969 and spent 54 wonderful years together. Betty survives and will miss him dearly.
He was a life member of the Cooperstown Volunteer Fire Department. He was of Methodist faith.
Dick enjoyed the outdoors, mowing, playing softball in his younger years, hunting, and golf, whether it be in the Senior League at Sleepy Hollow Golf Course or the many golf scrambles he did with friends and family.
Left to cherish his wonderful memory are his wife; his daughter, Michelle "Missie" Greenlee and her husband, Rob of Franklin; his brothers, Wesley Boughner and his wife, Janet, Byron Boughner and his wife, Cynthia - all of Cooperstown; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, Dick is preceded in death by his siblings, Rev. Robert E. Boughner, Eugene C. Boughner, Beverly Potter, Gerald "Jerry" Boughner, and infant brother, Edwin W. Boughner; his nieces, Tamara Boughner and Judy Boughner; and his nephews, Gerald "Jerry" Boughner, Jr. and Donald E. Boughner; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Nelson and Shirley "Ruth" Fox; sister-in-law, Donna Shultz; and his dog and "sidekick", Sugar.
Per Dick's wishes, there will be no viewing. A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023 at Cooperstown Cemetery, 1780 Donation Hill Road, at 2pm with Jerry Ritchey officiating.
Military honors will be accorded by V.E.T.S. Honor Guard.

Missie I am so sorry to hear of your loss! Dick was such a good guy and sure will be sorely missed by alot of people. But he is now free of all pain worries and heartaches!!
Dick was such a kind and gentle soul. I worked with him at Joy. He had an excellent sense of right and wrong and always strived to do his best. He agonized when he had to discipline an employee. The battle is over….may you rest in peace.
