Randal R. Troyer

randal troyer
Randal Ray Troyer, 71, of Corry, succumbed to his battle with brain cancer which he faced with faith, determination, and optimism on the evening of April 18, 2023. He was born in Milford, Nebraska on October 27, 1951, the eldest of 3 boys to Ray M. Troyer and Joan Kuhns Troyer. Randal grew up in Wayne Township, Erie County and attended and graduated from Corry Area Highschool in 1969, later graduating from Goshen College in Indiana in 1974. Randal loved the Lord and was an active member of Faith Church of Corry for many years. Randy loved to sing and was one of the original members of the quartet, Men of Faith, which he sang with for over 25 years. He adored his family, children, and grandchildren. He loved exploring God's creation, gardening, fishing, trapping, and canoeing. He loved playing softball in his younger years and was very involved in the Corry Church Softball League. Randy worked several jobs. He worked with his dad and brother farming beans and potatoes for Pero Bros. Farms from 1974 to 1988, he then drove the Beaverdam Country Cupboard truck delivering groceries to the Amish from 1989 to 2000. Then he worked as a rural letter carrier on R.D. #3 for the USPS of Corry office from 2000 until he retired on December 31, 2016. Randy is survived by his beloved wife Cynthia Boardman Troyer that he married on March 18, 1989. He is also survived by their two children, Andrew Donovan Troyer, Bethany Lynne Troyer Morris, her husband Phillip Morris, and their 3 children Allison, Chuck, and Ethan with a fourth on the way. He is also survived by his brother Pastor Barry Troyer and his wife Valerie of Park City, Montana, two sister-in-laws Christine Shaffer of Pleasantville, PA and Melinda Bumgardner of Circleville, Ohio and many beloved nieces and nephews. Randal was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Joan Troyer, his in-laws Donovan and Sara Boardman, his brother Russell in 2017, brother-in-law Gary in 2002, and two nephews Benjamin Troyer and Brian Shaffer. Randy tried hard to live up to his life's mission statement that "his worship would be passionate, his witness would be pleasing, and the warmth of God would be present in all he did." A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 20th at 11:00am at Faith Evangelical Church, 13444 West Washington Street, Corry. Private burial will take place at Lawn Cemetery of Beaverdam. Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. My greatest memory of Randy was when I attended Faith church and he sang in the men’s quartet. He sang with such joy and emotion. The love of Jesus always showed. His testimony thru the past 2 years has been so God honoring. He was such a man of faith. My heart goes out to Cindy, his children and grandchildren during this time of sorrow. His grandchildren where such joy to him. We know he is pain free now and with Jesus. We will see him again praise Jesus.

  2. I met Randy and Cindy when we started attending Faith Church.

Our kids were about the same age and we were in the nursery with Ms Betty together a lot and I learned then the witty/funny LOVE JESUS side of Randy and the family.

I will miss his presence each day on (I know this sounds lame) Facebook. He lived a love filled life and it was an honor to know him.

When Uncle Bill passed; I was able to (((hug))) him and talk to him for a minute; what a JOY that was.

Blessings Cindy and family; prayers for comfort during this transition…

  3. I learned-to love Randy on Facebook! His faith and the example he set for all of us will never be forgotten , I had so hoped to meet him at the reunion but circumstances didn’t allow for that I hope we meet in heaven with our Lord . May God. BLess you Cindy at this difficult time

  4. Cindy I am so very sorry for your loss. I will be thinking of you during this difficult time.

  7. Dear Cindy,
This is a voice from the past –I attended your beautiful wedding with Aunt Gloria; your wedding gown was just beautiful as has been your and Randy’s life together! My heart hurts for your loss and I will be praying for you and your family in the days to come. In His love, Susie (Mitchell) Sperry

  8. Q: How did you meet Randal?

A: I met Randy at my first Annual Sessions of the Eastern Conference of The Evangelical Church at Sawyer Evangelical in either May of 1999 or 2000. I was very nervous and quiet and he was loud and full of laughter. He sang loud and praised Jesus proudly. His display of love for the Lord, his home church Faith, and for his pastor stood out. He became a friend and I always looked forward to those Annual Session and the chance to worship with him. I’m sure looking forward to an eternity of those moments. Praying for the family as he will be greatly missed.
