Dot, Ralph, Linda & Family,
So sorry for your loss. I was home last week for a few days and thought of stopping down to the manor to see Ralph but didn’t make it. We , or at least I do, always think ” I’ll catch him next time” but, thats not always the case from not only this time but experiences in the past. I sure have a lot of good memories of Ralph and all of you. Espcially in my growing up days on the hill. Ralph included me in a lot of things a young fellow from PA liked back in the day. Ballgames, gunshows, fairs, hunting and going to camp. He was quite a interesting and entertaining guy who always enjoyed a joke on someone or even on himself. It was always fun to watch him get a good laugh out of something.
Gotta share one of my favorite memories I will NEVER forget. Ralph was up on a ladder on the side of his house painting or doing something when one of the Hummels foxhounds came strolling into the yard and started to mix it up with Chosser, his dog. Mitsy his white cat was up on the porch above the fray and upon observation of the ordeal unfolding, decided to allie and join the fray by jumping onto and digging her claws into Mr. Foxhounds back, riding him out of the yard like a cowboy on a bucking bronc that was baying away on the run. Ralph was laughing so hard I thought he was gonna fall off the ladder and die that day ! Mitsy came strolling back into the yard a few minutes later like nothing happened…looking like “What ? “. He laughed even harder to the point of tears.
Good Times !
Thanks for the memories Ralph,
Phil Hefferman
