Phyllis Jane Shaffer, 79, of Rockland Township Road ,Rockland died at 3:15 AM ,July 30, 2013 at UPMC-Northwest Seneca. Born March 8, 1934 in Meadville, PA, Phyllis was the daughter of the late Hugh and Mable Rebecca (Pratt) Haylett. She was married for 25 years to James W. Ward, who preceded her in death. On February 9, 1982 she was married to Charles O. Shaffer, who preceded her in death on April 29, 2013, they were married for 32 years. Mrs. Shaffer was a homemaker who enjoyed crocheting, traveling, gardening, watching the wild life out her front window, and gambling. Phyllis is survived by her son, James Dan Ward and his wife, Pam, of Rockland; her daughters, Rebecca Lynn Anderson and her husband, David, of Mechanicsburg, and Tamra Dunkle and her husband, Scott, of Seneca; her grandchildren, Joshua Ward and his wife, Kerensa, of Guam, Mindy Redding and her husband, Mike, of Meadville, Jarrod Ward of Rockland, Amanda Hoffner of Mechanicsburg, James Anderson of Mechanicburg, and Stephanie Keith and her husband Brandon of Seneca; her great-grandchildren, Tyler, Shay and Megan Redding, Ethan Ward, and Loralei and Gavin Keith. She is additionally survived by three step-children, five step-grandchildren, and one step-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; brothers, Phillip Alan, Edward, and David Haylett; and her sister, Nancy Rex. Friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Wednesday, July 31st, 2013, from 3:00PM - 7:00PM. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 1st, 2013 at Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., with Rev. Randy Kightlinger, VNA Chaplin, officiating. Interment will be in Franklin Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Human Society, PO Box 1045, Oil City, PA 16301.
