Philip G. Gordon, 73 of Meadville, passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on August 31, 1951 in Meadville, a son of Howard C. Gordon and Dorothy Fantacci Gordon. He married the love of his life, Judy Boor, on December 4, 1971.
He was a 1969 graduate of Randolph East Mead High School and went on to attend Erie Business Center, where he studied accounting. While in high school, Philip avidly participated in football, basketball, baseball, and volleyball, with education being a secondary priority.
Philip was dedicated and hardworking. He was employed as a forger with Channellock, Inc. for 40 years until his retirement in 2010 and served as a past union president. He also was employed as a part time mail rural carrier at the Guys Mills Post Office that later became a full-time position with a total service of 32 years. He loved his patrons, especially the young ones who raced their siblings to get the mail or bring him a colored picture as a gift. In 2021, he became a greens mower at Whispering Pines Golf Course until the close of the 2024 season.
He enjoyed playing golf, playing card games with his family and friends, watching Nascar, and traveling with his wife and family.
Philip was best known as a wonderful father, a tease, an instigator, and creating ways to be a troublemaker to his wife, daughters, and co-workers.
In addition to his loving wife, Judy V. Gordon of Meadville, he is survived by three daughters, Donnell McNulty and her husband Gary of Conneaut Lake, Renee Harrigan and her husband Sean of Gambrills, Maryland, and Mindy Nearhoof and her husband Tony of Meadville; grandchildren Kyle (companion Madison), Peyton, Lilly (husband Dominic), Cullen, Connor (wife Taylor), Sean Jr., and Quin; great grandchildren Marley and Hayden, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard (2001) and Dorothy (1993); a brother Joseph Gordon (2019); a sister-in-law Judy Gordon (2023), and a niece, Sheila (Gordon) Duke (1991).
A Memorial Service will be announced in the coming days to be held at Ryan M. Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 544 Chestnut Street, Meadville, with Pastor Adam Schooley of Victory Family Church officiating. Tony and Mindy will be hosting a private gathering from 4PM- 6:30PM at their home (403 Chestnut St, Meadville) for family prior to the memorial service.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Philip’s memory to the Yolanda G. Barco Oncology Institute, 16792 Conneaut Lake Road, Meadville, PA 16335 or Hospice of Crawford County, 766 Liberty Street, Meadville, PA 16335.
The family would like to personally thank the Yolanda G. Barco Oncology Institute, especially Dr. Hun and Dr. Brown and all the wonderful and caring nursing staff and administrative personnel, along with the Palliative Care and Hospice of Crawford County, especially Katie and Megan.
