Myrna S. Proper (Deida) May 3, 1946 – June 27, 2021 Myrna S. Proper of Cooperstown, Pa died peacefully Sunday morning June 27, 2021 of metastatic breast cancer. She is survived by her husband of forty-four years, Clarence L. Proper Jr., (J.R.). She was born and educated in Manhattan, NY the daughter of Juan F. Deida and Juanita Deida (Ramos-Negron) formally of Levittown, Puerto Rico and sister of Leonard Deida formally of West Palm Beach, FL—all who preceded her in death. How does one measure the value of an immeasurable human life? While Myrna S. Proper may have not been famous in the eyes of humankind, nor wealthy and successful according to society’s dictates—she was in fact wealthy in familial relationships and in love. She tacitly understood and practiced Jesus’s words: the greatest in the kingdom of God will be the servants of all (Matthew 23:11). First and foremost, she was a faithful servant to God, her husband, children, and grandchildren doing her level best to provide her family with every day comforts. Our joy became her joy—our flourishing, her flourishing. Her presence, love, and caregiving were and are ubiquitous in our lives. And she was generous beyond measure—she would give you the shirt off her back and never ask for anything in return. She saw each kindness by another as a gift. She could have been an actress; her voice and the stories with which she regaled us could have earned her a Tony Award or a Golden Globe Award. Perhaps if she were a tad bit younger and not sick, she could have achieved comedic fame on social media. Indeed, she was a phenomenal story-teller and had a flare for comedic relief. Throughout our life together she had us in stitches. She doted on each of her grandchildren and was very involved in her grandchildren’s lives both prior to their births and after. She also dearly loved her nieces and nephews. In her last two months at home in hospice, her children could not help but repeatedly express to her that she remains the “love of their lives.” It was an honor to care for her until her very last moment on Earth. Thankfully, each of her family members were able to participate in some aspect of hospice caregiving. Given her faith in God and how she lived it out in the simplest of ways, we are confident that the angels bore her up and that upon her arrival she heard, “Well done good and faithful servant.” We are bereft and acutely feel the emptiness of her absence but trust we will see her again at the Resurrection of the Just when all things will finally be made new and every wrong made right. Her life is valuable beyond measure. May her memory be eternal. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two sons and two daughters. Son, Marco R. Proper of Meadville (Michelle Polendo), grandson Chase Proper, granddaughters Marcella Proper, and Alexah Proper, of Franklin, PA. Son, Ken S. Proper of Powder Springs, GA (Chelsea Proper), granddaughters Brielle Proper, Delijah Proper, and grandson Arminius Proper. Daughter Michelle Rubaker and granddaughters Grace Rubaker, Jenna Rubaker, and Mariah Rubaker of Townville, Pa. Daughter Marlena Graves (Shawn M. Graves), granddaughters Iliana Graves, Valentina Graves, and Isabella Graves of Perrysburg, OH. Family and friends are welcome to call on Tuesday, June 29th from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at Ryan M. Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 33353 N. Main Street, Townville. The funeral service will follow at 2:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at East Troy Cemetery, Hydetown.
