It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Michael F. Leyda, 58, of Union City, who departed this life on February 27, 2026, surrounded by his loving family after a valiant struggle with illness. Born on March 27, 1967, in Euclid, Ohio, Michael was the beloved son of Judith (Stupar) Leyda Hartford and the late John Leyda who passed in 1972.
Michael was a cherished husband to Beverly (Hall) Leyda, whom he married on September 2, 1989. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter, raising three wonderful children: Zachary and his wife Raven of Corry, James Leyda and his partner Kendra Stanbro of Austintown, Ohio, and Sarah Leyda of Union City. Michael’s legacy will live on through his three beloved grandchildren, Iris Holland, Charlotte Leyda, and Oaklee Leyda, who brought immense joy to his life.
A dedicated professional, Michael spent many years in retail as a produce manager at Tops Markets, serving communities across Erie and Crawford counties with a warm smile and a friendly demeanor. He had a passion for politics and enjoyed working outdoors, and he was a fervent supporter of the Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Guardians.
Michael’s spirit will be remembered by his mother, Judith, and stepfather James Hartford of Euclid, Ohio; his brother John Leyda and his wife Johannah of Orwell, Ohio; and a host of friends and extended family who were touched by his kindness.
