Born in: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Maureen Jane Griffin Osborne, 85, of Saegertown, Pennsylvania passed away late Sunday, August 27, 2023 at her residence. She was born on July 23,1938 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Maurice John Griffin and Mary Louise Bozick Griffin. She married Richard Lamont Osborne, Jr. on October 27,1956. He preceded her in death on January 7, 2022. She was a graduate of Seton High School where she was part of the Student Council, Think Club with the Nuns, and a Cheerleader. In later years, she was a member of Saint Bernadette Roman Catholic Church. Maureen was employed as a School Teacher in Guam, and an Office Manager for Domestic Relations in Meadville, until she was promoted to the position of Assistant Director. She was the Assistant Director for 20 years. While her children were growing up, Maureen was a Team Mom for numerous baseball teams, a Cake Decorator for many functions, and a Seamstress – making outfits and repairs needed for all her children’s activities! Maureen would tell you that being a mother to her four children was her proudest accomplishment! She opened her world to her children’s minds… teaching them and exposing them to every life situation she could! She taught them that it was ok to question “why” things happen. She expected hard work, fairness and determination at every turn! She encouraged individuality, and creativity in all avenues of life! And then, in few times of conflict, would remind us of this… "I taught you four kids to be your own drummer… but that doesn't mean you can't be part of the same band." And so conflict would end…and new beginnings began! And to her family…well…she was the best wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother in the world! Left to cherish her memory are her children, Carole L. Buckeye and her husband Robert of Cochranton; Michael Osborne and his wife Cathy of Florida; Linda E. Parker and her husband Bruce of Perry, Ohio; and David Osborne and his wife Sarah of Maryland; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Joan Merenda of Florida; her beloved cats, Maggie & Ben, and her grand-cats Emmie & Nettie; and, her close friends, Cecelia Buckeye, Chuck and Posey Leech, Rosemary Nicholson-Thomas, Faye Cole, Judit Kles, Dan and Karen Nowak, and Kevin and Tiffany Tommaney. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents Maurice John Griffin and Mary Louise Griffin; her Aunt, Jane Griffin; and her brother in law, Dominic Merenda. There will be no visiting hours at this time. A graveside service will be held at a later date. Guestbook

  1. My deepest sympathy on the loss of such a very special lady. She was such a positive influence in my life she helped me be who I am today. We began our journey as her being my boss and very quickly became my friend, teacher, and confidant. We had a lot of laughs together. I will miss her deeply but she will always be in my heart.

  2. Our sympathy to Maureen’s family and friends. May Lord wrap his loving arms are you and give you peace.
