Marlan A. "Marty" Jones, Sr., 94, of Meadville, passed away, Monday, December 22, 2014 at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community. He was born on February 27, 1920 in Conneaut Lake, Pennsylvania, a son of David R. Jones and Emma J. Seagraves Jones. He married Winifred "Winnie" Doutt on October 5, 1961. She survives.
Marty was employed by Talon Industries, McCrosky Tool, and retired from Meadville Forging Company.
He served his county with the United States Navy and was a member of Community of Christ.
Marty enjoyed golfing, horse races, playing cards, dancing, and taking small trips.
He was a life member of Conneaut Lake Volunteer Fire Department; a member of Eagles Aerie 868, and VFW Post 2006.
In addition to his loving wife, Winnie, he is survived by four children, Marlan A. Jones, Jr. and his wife Sherry of Meadville, and their children, Marlan A. Jones III, Randy L. Jones, and Linette Ferry; Marlene Hough and her husband Craig of Lakeland, Florida and her children, Kimberly Wiley and Stephanie Porter; Timothy P. Jones, Sr. of Conneaut Lake and his children, Deborah Koladij, Timothy P. Jones, Jr., Stacy Wadas, Melissa Byrne, and Michelle Roboski; Colleen Green and her husband Kevin of McKinney, Texas and their children, Justin Green and Danae Mears; 24 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Marty was preceded in death by three sisters, Guila Jones, Doris Coleman, and Audrey Jones; and five brothers, Clayton, William, David, Paul, and Issac Jones.
Family and friends are welcome to call on Saturday, December 27th from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at Roofner-Collins-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 544 Chestnut Street, Meadville. The funeral service will follow at 3:00pm at the funeral home with Marty's, son in law, Reverend Kevin Green, officiating.
Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Harmonsburg.
Per family request in lieu of flowers memory donations may be made in Marty's memory to Hospice of Crawford County, 464 Pine Street, Meadville, PA 16335; or Wesbury United Methodist, 31 N. Park Ave., Meadville, PA 16335; or Community of Christ, c/o Elder John Deets, 15349 S. Norrisville Road, Meadville, PA 16335.

Those we have don’t go away, They walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear.
Mary and I send love and profound sympathy to Marty’s entire family, especially our sister-in-law Marlene. We always enjoyed Marty’s good sense of humor and his many wonderful stories. We will miss him. A memory donation has been given in Marty’s name to Hospice of Crawford County.
Aunt Winnie we are so sorry to hear of Uncle Marty’s passing ..he was such a kind man with a gentle soul …We enjoyed so much espically seeing him at the fair and talking with him we will miss that so much… He was such a JOY to talk to…We were so glad to see him at the reunion in September those pictures we will cherish ……. Please take care of yourself and again we are so sorry ..hugs to you.
Dearest Winnie, we are so sorry to hear of Marty’s passing. He was such a pleasant man, and he always had a story to share. I will always remember his laugh, how much he loved to talk, and that thick, white hair, just like Doris, and Paul’s! It was so good to see him at the reunion in September.
