Mark Ivan O’Day, born on January 1, 1962, in Erie, PA, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2025, in Meadville, PA. He was the son of Steve Samuel and Mary Lou Heath O’Day and was deeply rooted in his community.
Mark was known for his selfless spirit, dedicating his career to self-employed lawn care and odd jobs for elderly neighbors who needed a helping hand. He had a passion for life that shone through his many interests, including a love for collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia, Bruce Lee Kung Fu movies, and antiques. He practiced Tai Chi and enjoyed the peacefulness it brought him. Mark cherished his close-knit circle of friends and was a familiar face at First Christian Church, where he connected with many.
In 2001, he married his beloved wife, Doreen O’Day, who brought joy and companionship into his life whom he always enjoyed studying daily bible studies together. Mark is survived by his sister Debbie Anthony (“Red”) of Meadville, along with five nieces: Jessica, Sherri, Elizabeth, Heather, and Debby; his nephew, Aidan Robertson; and his great-niece, Kenzlee Anthony. He is now reunited with his parents, his wife, his niece Crystal Anthony, his brother Stephen O’Day, and half siblings, Shirley, Ernie, Jack and Clarence, who have all preceded him in death.
A small, private celebration of Mark’s life will be held at a later date. Friends and family will gather to remember the joy he brought into their lives and to honor the legacy he leaves behind. Mark will be missed dearly by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
