Margaret (Peg) G. McClelland, 95, of Franklin, died on Wednesday, October 12th, at UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.Born April 17,1921 in Fryburg, Margaret was the daughter of the late Al and Mary M. Shill Hartel. She married Stanley E. McClelland in December of 1941, and he preceded her in death in 1985.Peg was a graduate of Shippenville High School and Welch's Business College. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed sports. She was devoted homemaker, and a volunteer for V.N.A., R.S.V.P., and also at one time, the Franklin Food Share. Peg enjoyed cooking and helping her friends and family.She is survived by her sons, Stanley E. McClelland, Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth A., of Ft. Mill, SC, and James R. McClelland and his wife, Linda, of Polk, and her daughters, Patricia McElhaney of Cooperstown, and Mary Cratty and her husband, Dean, of Franklin. She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret was preceded in death by her son, Alan McClelland; her daughter-in-law, Diane McClelland; her son-in-law, Thomas McElhaney; her brothers, Aloysius and Charles Hartel; two sisters, Viola Grolemund and Carrie Waggoner; her grandson, James McClelland, Jr.; and her great-grandson, Colton James Cratty.Family and friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Friday, October 14th from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Patrick's Food Pantry - 949 Liberty Street, Franklin PA 16323; Community Ambulance - PO Box 909, Franklin PA 16323; or the VNA Foundation - 491 Allegheny Blvd., Franklin PA 16323.To send flowers, cards, online condolences, or for further information, family and friends are invited to visit www.gardinierfuneralhome.com.
