Mabel J. Porter, 88, of Meadville, passed away, Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community. She was born January 3, 1926 in Earl Park, Indiana a daughter of James Howles and Martha Enick Howles. She married Charles A. Porter on October 11, 1946 he preceded her in death on March 31, 1987. She was a graduate of Cambridge Springs High School and was employed at Neason Hill Elementary School as the head cook. She was a member of West Mead #1 Fire Department Auxiliary, enjoyed playing bingo, poker, traveling, going to casinos, but most of all she loved attending all her grandchildren's extra curricular activities. Mabel is survived by three sons, Alan Porter and his wife Penny of Meadville, Dennis Porter and his wife Debbie of Meadville, and Barry Porter of Meadville; seven grandchildren, Christy Ping and her husband Dave, Chad Porter and his wife Megan, Mike Porter and his wife Kristy, Ryan Porter and his wife Cassie, Amanda Porter, Jennifer Porter, and Sarah Porter; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Marjorie Dygert and her husband Bruce of Conneaut Lake; two brothers, James Howles of Venango and Arlin Howles and his wife Sandra of Venango; a sister in law, Shirley Howles of King of Prussia, Pennsylvania; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her loving husband Charles, she was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Daniel Howles. Family and friends are welcome to call on Saturday, March 22nd from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at Roofner-Collins-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 544 Chestnut Street, Meadville. The funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 5:00pm with Pastor Randy Mason, officiating. Burial will take place in Venango Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Mabel's memory to Meadville Sertoma Club, Jimmy Moore Fund, 14420 Baldwin Street Ext, Meadville, PA 16335 or Wesbury Sunset Auxillary, 31 N.
