Leona S. Heffernan, 88, of Greenville, PA went to be with the Lord on July 5, 2017 at 4:10 pm UPMC Northwest. Born March 26, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Lowrie W. and Effie Rummel Beach. She was also a loving wife to Walton A. "Bud" Heffernan.Leona was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Meadville and enjoyed traditional "Old" hymns of church and classical music. She attended many different churches throughout the area where her and Bud sang. She was a history buff and enjoyed books on the Civil war, Spanish-American war and WW I and WW II. Baking apple pies was one of her favorite enjoyments. Leona also enjoyed archery and was a former member of the Rainbow Archery Club.Survivers include her son, Dana Singleton and wife Carol of Greenville; her daughter-in-law, Donna Heffernan of Boise, ID; her brothers Jim Beach and wife Jayne of Cooperstown, Ron Beach and wife June of Polk, Alvin Beach and his wife Marjorie of Polk; her sisters Violet "Teen" Clark of West Middlesex, Shirley Osborne of Butler, Nancy Davison and husband Harry "Skip" of Polk, Nina Crocker and husband Ray of Slippery Rock and Valda Beach of Cochranton; her sisters-in-law Jane Beach of Franklin and Edith Beach of Oil City. She was further survived by her grandchildren Dr. Jeffery Singleton and wife Melissa of Oil City, Stacey Shaw and husband Scott of Titusville, Amy Rankin and husband Jason or Oil City; step grandchildren David Heffernan and wife Robin of Boise, ID, Candee Nagy and husband Craig of Hickory, PA, Robert Morris of Pittsburgh and Beth Cosper of Statesville, NC; 8 great grandchildren, 7 step-great granchildren and a special friend, David Morrison of Oil City.Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; her step-son Harold "Pete" Heffernan; brothers, Delbert Beach (WWII during the Battle of the Bulge), William "Bill" Beach, Robert Beach; sister, Jean Sires, Evelyn Gingher, Janet Savory.Friends are invited to the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, on Saturday, July 8 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, July 9 at 2:00 pm with Rev.   1. I had known Leona since I was a young girl in high school. She was a joy. She is now walking the streets of gold with our Lord and her husband, Bud. God be with all of the family during this difficult time.
