Lawrence Shoffstall

Lawrence Ellwood Shoffstall, 85, of Grove City, formerly of Polk, passed away at 10:02 p.m., June 19th at Orchard Manor in Grove City.Born August 8, 1929 in Sugarcreek Borough, Lawrence was the son of the late Grover L. and Dora DeLong Shoffstall. He was married to the former Donna Jean VanBrussell, who preceded him in death on July 30, 1998.Lawrence was a retired US Navy Veteran, having served 19 years active service. While in the Navy, he was the recipient of the Good Conduct Award (3rd Award). He enjoyed fishing, reading, baseball and telling jokes.Lawrence is survived by his son, Lester Lee Shoffstall of Louisville, KY; his brothers, Grover Shoffstall, and his wife, Joyce, of Franklin, Richard Shoffstall and his wife, Caroline, of Plant City, Florida, and Donald Shoffstall and his wife, Ann, of Columbus, Ohio; and his sister, Mary Wentworth of Franklin. He is also survived by his friends, Louise and Michael McConnell and their family, of Grove City.In addition to his parents and wife, Lawrence was preceded in death by his sister, Pauline Shorts.Family and friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Tuesday, June 23rd from 12:00 (noon) to 1:00 p.m. Funeral Services will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Dennis Jones, officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard.
