Obituary - Larry Hays Longwell Larry Hays Longwell, 74, of 5877 U.S. Route 322, Franklin, died at 11:33 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2009, at UPMC Northwest Medical Center. Born Feb. 5, 1935, in Franklin, he was the son of the late Dudley C. Longwell and Ferdelia Dora Baker. He was first married May 18, 1955, to the former Bertha Louise Blakley, who preceded him in death Jan. 11, 1990. He was later married June 28, 1991, to the former Kathryn "Katie" Axtell, who survives. Mr. Longwell retired in 1991 after 33 years as a roll bar operator for Franklin Steel. He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Seneca. Mr. Longwell enjoyed racing, antique car collecting, hunting and spending time with his family. He was a Dale Earnhardt fan. In addition to his wife, Mr. Longwell is survived by two children, Larry R. Longwell and his wife, Crystal, of Franklin and Pamela Riffe and her husband, Larry, of Transfer; four step-children, Dean Sherbondy of Greenville, Michelle Rafferty and her husband, Brian, of Stoneboro, Holly Beck and her husband, Roger, of Greenville and Tracey Carlisle and her husband, Mitch, of Cleveland, Ohio; a grandchild, Dan Prichard and his wife, Angel, of Titusville;10 step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, Samantha Prichard and Andrew Prichard, both of Titusville; and three step-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and first wife, Mr. Longwell was preceded in death by a brother, Gale Longwell and two step-brothers, Ken Sollinger and Don Sollinger. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Gardinier Funeral Home Inc. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Faith Baptist Church in Seneca with the Rev. Larry Williams, of the church, officiating. Interment will be in Rockland Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the VNA Foundation.
