John M. Karns, 63, of Franklin, went to be with the Lord after a courageous battle with lung cancer, surrounded by his loving family.Born April 24, 1952, John was the son of the late Clyde W. Karns and Ethel Reese Karns. In 1970, John graduated from Rocky Grove High School. On May 30, 2015, John married his long time companion, Bonnie Woods, who survives.John was a well-known and loved local farmer that provided fresh produce to all of Venango County. He owned and operated Karns Produce with his wife, family, and friends for the last 21 years. He loved his family, being in the fields, and going fishing. He was often seen at the Farmers Market in Franklin, selling his fresh produce, which he had done with his family since he was 3 years old.In addition to his wife, John is survived by his sons, Mike Karns; Jason Pastuch, and his wife, Mikal; and Nate Witherow, all of Franklin. He is also survived by his daughters, Jennifer Karns Jarzab, and her husband, David, of Morgantown, WV; and Sarah Baughman, and her husband, Oren, of Franklin. John is furthermore survived by his brother, Jim Karns of Arizona; and his sister, Barbara Karns of Flint, MI. He is also survived by his mother and father-in-laws, David and Beula Woods, of Greenville, PA.John's surviving grandchildren include Justin, Isaiah, Jacob, Anna Jane, and Janelle Jarzab, of Morgantown, WV; Ryleigh and Brynna Baughman of Franklin; Ashlee and Daniel Garcia-Pastuch, of Colorado Springs, CO; as well as many other friends and family.Additionally to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, David W. Karns, and his aunt, Jennie Karns Lepley.Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, August 19th, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, August 20th, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev.   1. John was a kind soul & good to everyone. He was the best trapper, hunter & fisherman & could dress & clean game like no other. He was a successful business man providing Venango County with the freshest produce but John’s best gifts to me are son Mike & daughter Jenny. Bonnie brought happiness into Johns life & has always treated me like a sister. She’s an angel. I pray the Community will come together & help Bonnie recover as she will need help..
