  28. I have so many wonderful memories of Joan. I first met Joan as one of my former students at Franklin Jr.-Sr. High School decades ago. That was when I caught my first glimpse of Joan’s polite, kind-hearted and hardworking nature. Then my daughters remember Joan as the “shoe lady” from J.C. Penney’s who would carefully measure their feet for new shoes each school year. I will also remember Joan as one of my guest speakers for Career Day who helped our students make their own fishing lures, and they loved every minute of it! But my fondest memories are the times I stopped by Joan’s bait shop on warm summer evenings, buying my bait to fish at Lake Wilhelm, and reminiscing with Joan about the good times. I will miss Joan so much and our little talks at her bait shop! As the singer/songwriter, Tracy Chapman, once said, “I’ve seen and met angels wearing the disguise of ordinary people living ordinary lives.” Joan was one of those angels.

  29. I have know Joan for many years and what a beautiful person. She always was there to help anyone who needed it. She worked with my mother-in-law at Penny’s and when I worked at Franklin School District she was working there. What a hard worker . She will be remembered for her kind heart.

  30. Joan was a good friend and was respected by those who knew her. May God comfort all of the friends and families who have been touched by her life. Her struggle here is now over and has a new life free of pain and sickness. We are looking forward to seeing her when we make it to Heaven. May God bless the ones left to cherish her memory. Randy and Barb Doyle.

  31. Joan was the sweetest most caring person, I have ever met. I had the pleasure of knowing Joan for probably over 25 years. Every time I saw she would always asked about my parents and how my father was doing. Even when she didn’t feel good she offer to make food for us when our father passed away. I will miss her smile and loving caring personality. I know that you are with the Lord. Rest in peace.
