Joan Heffernan, 70, of Franklin, passed away peacefully at her home on March 8, 2015, at 9:52 pm. She was born December 13, 1944 in Sugarcreek Borough. She was the daughter of Richard and Dorothy Heffernan. Joan was a member of the Rocky Grove Volunteer Fire Department where she also served as secretary. She was also part of the Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by two sisters, Jane Winger and her fiance Roger of Oil City, Pa; and June McMurdy and her husband Joe of Seneca, Pa. Also she is survived by her nieces, Stacey Winger of Franklin, Pa; Crystal Krug and her husband Dan Krug of Rouseville, Pa; Julie Miller and husband Ryan Miller of NY; Jackie and her husband Chris of Ohio; Brandy Moon and fiance Brenda Rogers of Rouseville, Pa; Jenna Hefferman and her husband Ryan Hefferman of Franklin, Pa; and Billie Moon and fiance Tyler Gerwick of Franklin, and her god-daughter, Michele Bennett, of Texas.Additionally, Joan is survived by her great nieces and nephews, Heydan Krug, Hannah Krug, Richard Miller, Jarad Miller, Tanner Hefferman, Owen Hefferman, Benson Moon, Lorelai Gerwick, Stephanie Rogers, Samantha Rogers, Joseph, Aaron, and Lauren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Debra Moon. Family and friends will be received Wednesday, March 11, 2015, from 2 to 6 pm then followed by a service at Gardinier Funeral Home at 11 am, Thursday, March 12, 2015, which will be officiated by Reverend Dennis Jones. Internment will occur at Peters Cemetery. The Family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Ladies Auxiliary of the Rocky Grove Volunteer Fire Department.
