James Robert “Bob” Thatcher, 97, of Franklin went to be with his Lord and Savior peacefully at the Sugar Creek Station on Saturday, November 16, 2024.

Born on November 10, 1927 in St. Clairsville, OH he was the son of the late Jennings Bryant and Elsie Mae (Foraker) Thatcher.

He lived in Lloydsville, OH until he married the love of his life, the former, Carolyn P. Lodge, on October 11, 1947. They then moved to Franklin and started their life.

Bob retired after a little over 32 years of working in the warehouse and driving a delivery truck for Joy Manufacturing. He was an active member of the Congress Hill Church of God.

He loved spending time with his family and friends. He spent many summers camping and vacationing with his wife and grandchildren.

Bob was always looking for a good deal. He and his wife, Carolyn, would travel the countryside in search of yard sales, flea markets, and auctions. He also enjoyed a vast array of crafting projects as well as refurbishing old furniture.

Left to cherish his memory along with his wife, Carolyn are his children Charles Thatcher and his wife, Shirley, of Franklin and Sue Hutchison and her husband, James, of Sandy Lake; his grandchildren Michele Allgeier of Denver, CO, Sandra Moore and her husband, Abe, of Oil City, Bryan Thatcher and his wife, Denise, of Franklin, Rebecca Hittle and her husband, Tom, of Virginia, and Michael Hutchison and his wife, Jennifer, of Bruin, PA; his 7 great-grandchildren; and his numerous great-great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his sisters-in-law Daisy Thatcher of Bethesda, OH, Elizabeth Montgomery of Antrim, OH, and Elaine Bean of Cambridge, OH.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Jennings Eugene Thatcher.
