James H. Edwards II, 61, of Union City, passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at Saint Vincent Hospital. Born on July 20, 1963, in Union City, Jim was the son of James H. Edwards and Sharon A. Roberts Kulesa.
Jim married his beloved spouse, Beth A. Yost, on January 8, 1983, and together they built a life filled with love and laughter. A proud graduate of Union City High School in 1982, Jim served as an Engineman in the U.S. Navy from 1983 to 1990, ensuring the safety and security of his fellow countrymen.
He spent his work life as a skilled technician, focusing on heavy trucks, fire equipment, and ambulance gear. Jim was known for his role as an equipment operator for Union City Borough and worked with Charles Bauer doing housing maintenance. His dedication to the community was evident through his involvement with Harmony Baptist Church, as well as being a lifetime member and former chief of the Union City Fire Department. He also served as a D.C.N.R. Fire Warden, sharing his knowledge as a CPR instructor, and embraced the thrill of SCUBA diving.
Music was another passion of James’, as he played the upright bass in bluegrass bands like Earth Angel and Empty Pockets. In his downtime, you could find him hunting or enjoying precious moments with his grandchildren—who will forever hold a special place in his heart.
In addition to his loving wife, Beth A. Edwards of Union City he is survived by his mother, Sharon Kulesa of Union City; his stepmother, Lena Edwards of Union City; a daughter, Jessica L. Jim was such a wonderful friend to me and my family..you are deeply missed my friend
My thoughts and prayers are with you and all your family. He will be missed by many. Keep smiling, Jim.Sending a big hug.
Even with his health struggles, he always had a smile and a great sense of humor. Steve loved playing in the band with him, and we’ve heard so many stories about how much fun they all had together—him, Beth, Roland, and me (Rosie).
Thanks for everything, Jim. You left us with so many good memories. Wish we had more time with you, but I guess the Lord had other plans. You’ll definitely be missed.
Beth, I am so sorry for your loss. I’m praying for healing for you and the entire family for such a loss.
My sister Beth, how I love you. May God flood you with unending peace and strength and fill your heart with joy and songs!! He is not done with you yet!! All my love, your little Didter
So sorry for your loss Jessi. Reading his obituary can tell he was a super guy as a father and at work. He had a lot of skills and I think a big heart.
So many memories of Jim and Beth. He will be missed so much, his smile his humor, his goodness that comes from his soul.
Rest in peace dear buddy.
And may I say TaDa! Inside joke that had the campers rolling with laughter! His sense of humor, again!
Love ya, Jim, hope your Matilda in heaven is golden. You deserve it.
Beth, and the whole Edward’s family, my deepest condolences. What a loss for all of you. I wish I could have known him better, but I saw what he did for Beth. Praying for you all.
Beth and family:
I am so very saddened to learn of Jim’s passing. He was a wonderful man and had a tremendous warmth of personality. I am extremely appreciative of all of the enjoyable interactions I had with him and you, Beth, each and every time you played music at the Oil Country Bluegrass Festival in Oil City or when I saw you elsewhere. He brought immeasurable joy to a lot of people during his life. He always treated me so nicely and greeted me with that great smile of his. I offer to you my deepest sympathies and most sincere condolences. You are in my prayers!
Prayers for the family during these difficult times!
With love and prayers,
Dinah Kalagayan Thompson
