James Cervone, 91, of 10825 Cervone Drive, Meadville, PA, passed away on April 2, 2011 at Rolling Fields Nursing Home surrounded by his family. He was born in Meadville on March 15th, 1920. A son of Dominic Cervone and Bernice Longo. He married Darlene White on November 29, 1957. He enjoyed line dancing, auctions, oil painting, water painting, drawing, collecting antiques, and attending local sporting events. He was a 1940 Graduate of Meadville High School. He was one out of 100 soldiers picked out of 15,000 that attend The United States Military Academy at West Point to teach Armored Tactics, weapons maintenance and warfare. He received an honorable discharge at the end of World War II in 1945. In his early years he was a local builder with his brother John Cervone. He retired after 37 years at the position of Vice-President of Planning and Development for the Sanray Corporation. He was a member of St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife Darlene Cervone, a son James Cervone of Meadville, two daughters Scarlet Dickey and her husband Bryan and Julie DeGeorge and her husband Mark all of Knoxville, TN, grandchildren Courtney Stomieroski, Breanne Stomieroski, and Anthony DeGeorge all of Knoxville, TN, and two brothers John and Jerry Cervone both of Meadville. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Agnes Grasso, Arlene Wykoff, Florence Hindle, and Margaret Busatto; three brothers, Richard, Sam, and Tony Cervone. Calling hours will be on Tuesday, April 5th, 2011 from 2:00pm - 4:00pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Roofner-Collins-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 544 Chesnut Street, Meadville with a prayer vigil service at 8:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, April 6th at10:00am at St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, 353 Pine Street, Meadville with Father Raymond Gramata as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Brigid Cemetery with full military honors by VFW Post 2006.
