Jack L. Mong, 75, of Cooperstown died at 4:30 PM on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at UPMC-Northwest Seneca after a long illness. Born October 27, 1938 in Franklin, Jack was the son of the late Lawrence and Lulu (Reagle) Mong. On October 2, 1959 he married Lois Smith, who survives.Jack was employed as a laborer for 34 years at Franklin Steel and also worked for five years at Giant Eagle.He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Rocky Grove, the Cooperstown Volunteer Fire Department, the Venango County Fire Police, and a 50 year member of the Rocky Grove Volunteer Fire Department . He enjoyed word searches, puzzles, reading history, auctions, flea market, and all Pittsburgh Sports.He loved hunting, watching his children and grandchildren in sporting events, well cooked hot dogs at family picnics, and Jiff peanut butter.In addition to his wife, Jack is survived by his son, Kenneth E. Mong and his wife, Areta, of Franklin; his daughters, Sandra Snow and her husband, Rick, of Seneca and Michelle Lowman and her husband, Jim, of Franklin; his grandchildren, Kevin Mong and his wife, Amy, of Greensboro, NC, David Mong and his wife, Renee, of Hubbard, OH, Brittany Mong of Franklin, Brian Mong of Franklin, and Meghan Kaylor of Seneca; his great-grandchildren, Aidan McCracken of Franklin and Xavier Kane Miller of Seneca; and his favorite dog, Daisy Mae.He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Jacqueline Marie Mong; his brothers; Lawrence, Billy and Everett Mong; his sister, Lawanda Mong; and his son-in-law, Ted Kaylor.Friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Sunday, June 22nd, 2014, from 2:00PM - 6:00PM. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, June 23rd, 2014 at Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., with Rev. Ed Gresick pastor of the Grace United Methodist Church, officiating.
