Homer H. Page, 90, passed away on June 9, 2025.
Born in Pittsburgh on January 5, 1935 to Pat and Lucy Page and step mother, Clara Page.Homer graduated from Franklin High School class of 1954.
Following school, he joined the US Army and served in Panama. After his service with the Army, he returned to the Polk area and married the former Mary Wood on November 25, 1960. She survives.
Together, they raised 6 boys, Mark and Bob of Utica, Randy and Rick of Polk, and Joe (Pam) of Franklin and Mike who preceded him in death. He was fond of his grandchildren Homer P. Page, Angel Page (Ross Peterson), Logan Page, Terry (Heather) Filer; his great grandchildren Roan Peterson, Cadence, Chloey, and Jade Page, Amber and Lucas Page, and Kendall and Curtis Filer.
Homer was employed as an electrician foreman at Polk Center, retiring after 35 years in 1991. He enjoyed belonging to the American Legion, Franklin Fraternal Order of the Moose 83, Fraternal Order of the Eagles 328, and the Masonic Myrtle Lodge 316.
He was an avid hunter and trapper, gaining the nickname “Trapper” and took hunting trips out west.Homer loved fishing and took many fishing trips to Canada.
When the boys were young, he was a scout leader.
He enjoyed bowling at both Seneca Lanes and Franklin Lanes in the men’s leagues. He and Mary bowled mixed leagues for many years at Franklin Lanes.
Homer was very well known for his Horseshoe Pitching and winning numerous World and State titles. He and Mary traveled all over the United States and Canada to tournaments. He served as Franklin Horseshoe Club President for many years.
He was very involved in woodworking and whittling. He carved many beautiful Totem Poles and whittled many scenic plaques along with making pie carriers and horseshoe carry boxes. He was a “Jack of all trades”.
Homer was an excellent cook, noted for his “Almost Famous” Apple pies and “The Best” fish fries.
He was known for his wisdom and good story telling.
Homer enjoyed tinkering in his shop and riding his golf cart around his property with his sidekick “Harper”, his Shih Tzu, checking all his game cameras. He also enjoyed riding the tractors while mowing.
He was always on the go.
Homer is further survived by his sisters-in-law, Dolly D’Ambrosio of Chambersburg and Chery Zawrotuk (Ron) of Butler; brothers-in-law, Robert “Jake” Wood of Washington State and Daniel “Herbie” Rockwell of Polk; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his son, Mike, he was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers-in-law Tom and Danny Wood, a sister-in-law Debbie Wood, and daughters-in-law Marilyn and Loretta Page.
In following with Homer’s wishes, no public services will be observed and funeral arrangements are in the care of the Gardinier-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, PA 16323.
