Herbert C. Pease

Herbert C. Pease, Jr., 92 of Union City, PA, passed away, Sunday, July 8, 2018. He was born in Corry, PA on December 4, 1925. He was the son of the late Herbert and Mabel Pease. At age 5 he moved to Union City. Herbert and Faneil Hare Pease were married, October 30, 1943. He was fond of saying, “They told us it wouldn’t last” as he looked forward to our 75 Anniversary in October.
Herb served two years in the Navy during World War II. After returning home he and his wife owned and operated a corner grocery store in Union City and he went to work at General Electric where he retired after 44 years. Herb also worked part time at Wilkens and Wiggers Gas Station and the Union City Golf Course. Herb and Faneil were snow birds in Zephyrhills, FL for twenty three years where they both had Hole in Ones.
Herb was a member of the American Legion.
He liked to golf, have a beautiful lawn, flowers, and bird watching. He also was called candy-man as he always had a pocket full of peppermints, root-beer barrels, and hot reds to give to anybody he talked to.
Herb was a member of the Parade Street United Methodist Church and read his Bible every night before he turned out his light. For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ; for it is in the power of God unto salvation. Romans 1:16.
Herbert is survived by his wife, Faneil Hare Pease; one daughter, Patricia MacGregor and her husband Charles of Erie; one son, Herbert C. Pease, III and his wife Sue of Lawrence Park; three grandchildren, Faith Wentz and her husband Dale of Erie, Sean Pease and his friend Cassie of Erie and Brenna Shannon and her husband Justin of Erie; and six great grandchildren, Kate, Ellie and Quinn Shannon, and Chandra, Alexis and Corinne Wentz.
Herbert was preceded in death by his daughter, Amy DeSane and his parents.
Family and Friends are welcome to call on Wednesday, July 11th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Warren-Glenn Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 62 S. Main Street, Union City, PA. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 12th at 11:00 a.m. at the Parade Street United Methodist Church, 7 Parade Street, Union City with Pastor Jim Cannistraci, officiating.
Burial will take place in Lowville Cemetery, Wattsburg, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Herb’s memory to Parade Street United Methodist Church, 7 Parade Street, Union City, PA 16438 or to a charity of the donors choice.
