Helen J. Vandermark Helen J. Vandermark, 95, of Meadow Road, Seneca, Venango County, passed away at 5:45 a.m. on Monday, September 12, 2011 at the Golden Living Center in Oil City. Born September 13, 1915 in Rocky Grove, Helen was the daughter of the late Carl M. and Nellie Clinefelter Wheeling. She was married to Edward M. Vandermark, Sr. on September 11, 1938, and he preceded her in death in 1993. Mrs. Vandermark was a homemaker and loved to care for sick friends. She also worked four years teaching in private kindergartens before Cranberry Township had public kindergartens. Helen also taught Sunday School for years at the Victory Heights United Brethren in Christ Church. She loved her home and working with children. Mrs. Vandermark is survived by her son, Gerald E. Vandermark and his wife, Frances; and her daughter, Virginia B. Nelson, all of Seneca. She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Additionally, Helen is survived by her daughter-in-law, Kay Vandermark, and her sister-in-law, Louise Wheeling. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Vandermark was preceded in death by her son, Edward M. Vandermark, Jr.; her 5 brothers, Oakley, Harold, Clifford, Paul and Roland Wheeling; her 2 sisters, Jean Wheeling and Virginia Baker; and her son-in-law, Donald Nelson, Jr. Family and friends of Helen will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 from 2 to 4 p.m. Funeral Services for Helen will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at 4 p.m., following visitation with Rev. Roger Overmyer, officiating. Interment will be in Brandon Cemetery. The family suggests that Memorial Contributions be made to the charity of one's choice.
