SAEGERTOWN - Hazel A. Merritt Ashman, 95 of Saegertown, passed away, Monday, March 13, 2017. She was born on October 29, 1921, in Venango, PA. She was the daughter of the late, Milton and Minnie Johnson Merritt. Hazel married H. Wayne Ashman, and he preceded her in death in 1990. Hazel worked for Talon, and retired from the cafeteria for Crawford Central School District in November 1983. She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, sewing, camping with family and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Elks Auxiliary and the Trinity Lutheran Church in Meadville. Survivors include her daughter, Janice Kaiser and her husband Gerald of Saegertown; and her son, Tom Ashman and his wife Sue of Saegertown; three grandchildren, Corinne Berrett and her husband Edward of Cleveland; Brian Ashman of Saegertown; and Sandra Ashman and her fiancee Ian Harvey from Warren; one great grandson Eddie Berrett of Cleveland; also one sister-in-law, Evelyn Merritt of Mississippi. Hazel is preceded in death by her brothers, Lester Merritt, Merton Merritt; Morris Merritt, Donald Merritt and Irvin Merritt; and sisters, Adeline Burge, Gladys Waid and Mildred Beck. Friends and Family are invited to call the Ryan M. Warren Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 544 Chestnut Street, Meadville, PA 16335, Thursday, March 16, 2017 from 2:00 P.M. - 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M.. Funeral services will be held there Friday, at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Rich Haemer of Saegertown Community Church officiating. Burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Crawford County Care Center, 20881 PA-198, Saegertown, PA 16433. The family would like to thank Dr. Decker for the care he provided to Hazel.
