Gordon E. Hoover

Gordon E. Hoover, 88, of Reno passed away at the Caring Place on February 8, 2025.

Born in Franklin on December 18, 1936, he was the son of the late Albert and Flossie (Hollabaugh) Hoover and was the last of his family.

Gordon worked in the maintenance department for the Venango County Jail for 13 years, retiring in 1990.

On October 31, 1964, he married the former Joan Cauvel and she preceded him in death on June 24, 1999.

Gordon enjoyed gardening and was so proud of his vegetables and flowers. In his younger years, he was an avid hunter.

Left to cherish his memory is his longtime friend, Nanette Harton of Reno and his many friends he made throughout the years.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his siblings Donald Hoover, Paul Hoover, Dick Hoover, Kenneth Hoover, Marion Wagner, Betty Fisher, and Bonnie Sterling.

In following with Gordon’s wishes, no public services will be observed. Funeral arrangements are under the care of the Gardinier-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin.

Gordon will be laid to rest at Peter’s Cemetery.
