Gerard "Jerry" Davis, 75, of Franklin, passed away unexpectedly at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, surrounded by his family, at the Meadville Medical Center.Born December 20, 1942 in Punxsutawney, Jerry was the son of the late Elmer Davis and Frances "Alice" Sprankle Davis Vogus. He married Carolyn Deeter on January 4, 1964, and they recently celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary.Jerry worked as an Electrical Inspector at Joy Manufacturing for 37 years. He enjoyed working on and rebuilding cars (he rebuilt his '72 Camero and his wife's '71 Chevelle), and loved going to car cruises with his many good friends. When the weather was nice, you could always find Jerry sitting on the front porch with his dog, Sammy, who was his constant companion.Jerry loved spending time with his family, and enjoyed family picnics and holiday gatherings. Two of his greatest joys in life were his two grandchildren - Eric and Emily. He loved watching Eric play basketball, and he beamed with pride while he watched Emily perform in her many musicals. Jerry is survived by his wife, Carolyn; his daughter, Rhonda Powell and her husband, Ed, of Oil City; his two grandchildren, Eric McVay of Hermitage and Emily Powell of Oil City. He is also survived by his brother, Roger Davis and his wife, Katie, of Williamsport; his sister-in-law, Bonnie Deeter; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Darrell "Duke" Deeter.Family and friends of Jerry will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Friday, April 6th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday, April 7th at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Phil Conklin, pastor of the First Church of God in Ellwood City, officiating. To Rhonda and family so sorry to hear about jerry ive known him for severial years i first met him when i worked at EatnPark and when i went there after i left EnP i always seen him at the counter drinking coffee he would allways ask me how im doing and we would start talking about Rhonda im going to miss seeing him and talking to him!!     My deepest sympathy to all of you during this very difficult time. Jerry was such a wonderful guy. We all loved waiting on him at the pharmacy. He always had a kind word for everyone and his positive attitude made your day a little brighter. He will be missed by everyone that knew him. I am sure you have a lifetime filled with happy memories. Just keep them in your heart and he will always be with you. I will pray for the strength you will need to get you through these difficult days ahead. Again, my deepest sympathy.
