Gerald “Jerry” Lee Woods, 79, of Franklin entered the gates of heaven on September 24, 2025 at The Caring Place with family at his side.
Born on January 6, 1946 in Reno, PA, he was the son of the late Julius H. Woods, Jr. and the late Alice (McKinley) Parker.
After graduating from Franklin Area High School, Jerry proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War earning 2 bronze stars with his Vietnam Service Medal along with earning his Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Navy Unit Commendation Medal.
On June 19, 1970, he married the love of his life, the former Charlotte J. Hazlett. She preceded him in death on March 20, 2017.
Jerry worked for Joy Manufacturing for 18 years and GE in Grove City for 20+ years.
He was conservative republican who was very passionate about preserving our rights and freedoms and was a part of the Tea Party movement.
As a gun enthusiast, he was a member of the National Rifle Association, Gun Owners of America, 2nd Amendment Foundation, National Association for Gun Rights, and held the office as president for the PA Gun Owners Association, and president and vice president of Venango County Gun Owners Association.
He had an interest in antique cars and was a past president of the Keystone Model A Club. He also enjoyed go-cart racing and did it every Sunday for 10+ years, receiving a trophy every year!
Left to cherish his memory are his sisters Ruby White of Scottsdale, AZ and Frances Ehrhard and her husband, Mark, of Smyrna, GA; his nieces and nephew Shara Taylor, Ladonna Davis and her husband, Rob, Julie Harrelson and her husband, Rob, Corrina Woods and her husband, Dave, and Adam Woods; his step son Brett Loomis of Polk; his step-grandchildren Crystal Loomis, Jody Loomis, and Brian Loomis. He is further survived by his sisters-in-law Vicki Willyoung of Oil City and Charlotte Woods of Warren, OH; He will be dearly missed by his Dobermans, Red & Zena, who were his world.
In addition to his parents and his wife of 46 years, he was preceded in death by his brothers Donald and Richard Woods; his nephew Darren Woods; and his step-father Jim Parker.
Guests are invited to Gardinier-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Saturday, September 27th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm with funeral services for Jerry will be held at the funeral home the same day at 1:00 pm with assistant pastor Harold Lamey officiating.
Jerry will be laid to rest next to his wife at Graham Cemetery, Franklin where military honors will be accorded by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard.
