MEADVILLE - George O. Holzer, 81, of Meadville, passed away, Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at AristaCare at Park Avenue, Meadville. He was born on March 3, 1937, in Meadville, PA. He was the son of the late Conrad and Viola Flockerzi Holzer. He married Maxine Grinnell on September 14, 1957. George enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved talking on his C.B. radio. When he was in high school he was a star for the football team. George was extremely intelligent and had a heart of gold that loved to help others. When he was a student at St. Brigid School he took care of the nuns and served them their meals, he also fixed the furnace. Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years, Maxine Holzer, two sons, David DeWayne Holzer and his wife Cheryl of Ohio and Ernest LeRoy Holzer and his wife Kate of Ohio, also four grandchildren, Dominique, Ryan, Elyse and Noah Holzer and three special nieces, Rose, Sharon and Robyn. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in passing by his son Robert Edward Holzer and his brothers Frank and Conrad (Coonie) Holzer. Friends and family are invited to call the Ryan M. Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 544 Chestnut Street, Meadville, PA 16335, on Sunday, July 22, 2018 from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M.. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, 383 Arch Street, Meadville, PA 16335 on Monday, July 23, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. with Father Jeffrey J. Lucas, as celebrant. Burial will take place at Saint Agatha Cemetery. The family requests no flowers to be sent, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Crawford County Humane Society, 11012 Kennedy Hill Road, Meadville, PA 16335 or to St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, 383 Arch Street, Meadville, PA 16335.
