George B. McMasters, 92, of Franklin, passed away on Wednesday, June 20th, 2018 at 9 p.m at Sugar Creek Station in Franklin.He was born to Jonathan McMasters and Gertrude Hockenberry on March 31st, 1926 in LaJose, Pennsylvania.George married his loving wife of 71 years, Myra "Jean" Davis on June 3, 1947,and she survives.Prior to his retirement, George was employed by Franklin Steel for 41 years as Head Electrician. He also was a self-employed electrician and worked for the City of Franklin as a meter repairman for 10 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. George was also a bus driver, a trustee at the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Franklin, and a life member of the Rocky Grove Volunteer Fire Department.On August 3, 1944, he entered the U.S. Navy. During his service, George received the World War II Victory Medal, the American Theatre Campaign Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Medal with 2 Battle Stats, the Philippine Liberation Medal with 1 Battle Star, and the European, African, Middle Eastern Campaign Medal.In addition to his wife, George is also survived by his 2 sons, Barry L. McMasters and his wife, Carol of Franklin, and Lynn D. McMasters and his wife, Kathy of Franklin; his grandchildren, Chad McMasters and his wife, Tara of Franklin, Byron McMasters and his wife, Katt of Barrington, RI, and Scott McMasters and his wife, Amanda of Franklin; and his 8 great-grandchildren, Sedona, Joplin, Declan, Mallory, Sydney, Madison, Abigail, and Cole all of Franklin.He is further survived by his brothers, Boguart McMasters and his wife, Eula, and Terry McMasters; and his sister-in-law, Joy McMasters of Franklin.George was proceeded in death by his parents; his brother, John O. McMasters; his sisters, Anna Mary Stiver, Amber Westover, Linda Queen, Clara Rorabaugh and Louise Morrison.Family and friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Monday, June 25, 2018 at 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.. Funeral services will be held at Christian Missionary Alliance Church, on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at 11 a.m. with Reverend Jon Martin, officiating. Interment will be held at Cochranton Cemetery.The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Christian Missionary Alliance Church, 1200 Otter Street, Franklin, PA 16323.
