Freda E. Stricklen-Douglas, 71, of Franklin passed away on September 29, 2019 in her home surrounded by her loving family.Born August 3, 1948 in Charleston, WV, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Amma (Nida) Lesher.On August 15, 1976, she married Gary Douglas; he preceded her in death on February 11, 2016.For most of her life, Freda was employed by Pennzoil as a Laborer.In her spare time, Freda enjoyed the simpler things in life, like gardening and reading. She was also member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge # 669. Most of all, she cherished the time she spent with her family and her pets, especially her dogs, Redneck, Cujo, Patches, and her cats, Cuddles and Whiskey.Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Russell Stricklen and his wife, Lauren, of Hall, NY, and Samuel Stricklen and his wife, Karen, of Franklin; her two daughters, Samantha Tarr and her husband, Mark, of Elkview, WV, and Dawna Turner and her husband, Ben, of Eastaboga, AL; her twelve grandchildren, Angelica, Ashley, Brian, Felicia, Brittany, Elizabeth, Shawna, Michael, Mitchell, Jesseca, Marissa, and Mark, Jr.; her fourteen great-grandchildren; and by her brother, Kenneth Lesher of Clay, WV.In addition to her parents and husband, Freda was preceded in death by her siblings, Harold, Jane, Loucille, Orvia, and Helen.Family and friends will be received on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, PA 16323, from 4 pm to 6 pm.Funeral services for Freda will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2019 starting at 6 pm at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc. with Reverend Mark Fultz, pastor of the Cooperstown Evangelistic Tabernacle, officiating.Memorial contributions can be made in Freda’s honor to the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, UPMC Cancer Pavilion, Suite 1B, 5150 Centre Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15232.To send flowers, cards, online condolences, or for further information, family and friends are invited to visit www.gardinierfuneralhome.com.
